PBIS
-
Our school is participating in an important district initiative. It is called Positive Behavior Interventions & Support (PBIS). PBIS is a process for creating safer and more effective schools. It is a systems approach to enhancing the capacity of schools to educate all children by developing research-based, school-wide, and classroom behavior support systems. The process focuses on improving a school's ability to teach and support positive behavior for all students. PBIS is not a program or a curriculum but a team-based process for systematic problem solving, planning, and evaluation.
We have adopted a unified set of classroom rules that you will see displayed throughout the school. Our unified classroom rules, found in every classroom and non-classroom setting in the school are as follows:Be Responsible!Expect the Best!Always Prepared!Respect Others!Stay Safe! This approach to managing behaviors is also a positive one. Students are acknowledged for exhibiting the behaviors that we expect by receiving a "Bear"-rific Paw. Students will turn in their Paws in the bins and at the end of the week the committee will draw winners from each grade level. Please take time to talk to your child about the expectations at school and the importance of continuing to demonstrate "BEARS" behaviors. With your continued support and involvement, Bearfield Primary School will remain a school where students can excel.
