  • DRUGS UNCOVERED WORKSHOP and EXHIBIT: What Parents & Adults Need to Know

    ADULTS ONLY!! A Must-See Workshop for Parents & All Adults who Inteact with Youth. *Learn ways to talk to kids about drugs, alcohol, and tobacco. *Learn current drug trends. *Identify signs of substance use and misuse. *Identify the ways teens are using common and unique items to conceal and use drugs, alcohol and tobacco. *Participants will receive FREE materials including resources on raising drug-and alcohol-free teens.This Workshop and Exhibit will be held at Hertford County Middle School on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM.   • HCHS Athletic Program UHC Sidelines Hunger Drive

    The HCHS Athletic program is participating in the United Healthcare & NCHSAA food drive blitz to end hunger. Student athletes are asking their community to join them in donating non-perishable food items throughout the month of September. Donations can be dropped off at the Athletic office, main school office or at the ticket gates for all home sports events during September. Donations will be given to the Ahoskie Food Pantry.

  • Effective Teacher Training

    Effective Teacher Training will be held October 2-23 from 5-8 pm. The cost is $125 for registration and the course fee $15. Pre-registration and fees are due by September 28, 2017.

    HCPS,in conjunction with Hertford County Public Health Authority, will sponsor flu clinics for students November 2, 2017 from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm during report card pick-up. Sites for the clinics are Bearfield Primary School and Riverview Elementary School. Nurses from the health department will administer the flu shots. Flu is very contagious, especially among children. Flu in children can be serious and can cause fever, headache, extreme tiredness and body aches. Children can be sick with the flu for a week and should be absent from school and childcare during that time. Please consider bringing your child to one of the 2 sites for their flu shot. The clinic is open to all HCPS students. Contact your school nurse for more information.

  • HCPS Parent Portal opens Monday September 11, 2017

    Hertford County Public Schools will open its PowerSchool Parent Portal, an online system for parents to view their students’ attendance and grade information on September 11, 2017.

  • Technology Fee for students

    August 10, 2017 – The Hertford County Board of Education has approved a technology fee for the 2017-18 school year. HCPS students in grades 6-13, will need to pay a $10 technology fee. Families in need of a waiver can submit a waiver form at their student's school.

  • No Changes to the Student Dress Code Policy for the 2017-2018 School Year

    Hertford County Public Schools (HCPS) is a great place where all children from all walks of life can attend with the promise of a good education and a safe environment. HCPS believes that school uniforms are a positive and creative way to increase school safety and improve student achievement. The Student Dress Code Policy # 4316 has not been revised for the 2017-18 School Year. The Dress Code Policy is on the district website, www.hertford.k12.nc.us. HCPS Student Dress Code Policy last revision was at the Hertford County Public Schools' Board Meeting on Monday, July 25, 2016. All of HCPS students are required to adhere to the entire Dress Code Policy # 4316 at all times.

  • Sixth graders can participate in athletics, with the exception of football.

  • Health Information Needed for Pre-K and Kindergarten Students as Well as New Students to NC Public Schools

  • Attention Parents of Current 6th Graders/Rising 7th Graders

    Attention students entering 7th grade for the 2017-18 school year must have proof of the following immunizations within the first 30 days of the new school year: Tdap booster Meningoccal vaccine. Please contact your health care provider or the local health department as soon as possible to get these immunizations completed. You may contact your school's nurse for any additional information.

  • School Bus Drivers to Use New Hand Signals; Requirement Helps Boost Student Safety

    Beginning Jan.1, all North Carolina public school bus drivers will be required to use hand signals to help students safely cross the road to board the bus. The North Carolina State Board of Education approved this revision to its bus safety policy at its July meeting.
