  • September 2019 STARS AWARD

    The school with the highest student attendance percentage for September 2019 is Early College High School with an attendance rate of 97.91%. Interim Principal, Ms. Nora Artis. The Stars Award was developed to improve our students attendance in order to impact their educational performance. Each school will continue to communicate to students and their families that good attendance does help to improve students performance in school.

  • 20 Years of Service

    Congratulations to Lt. Benjamin Williams for 20 Years of Service to Hertford County Public Schools as a School Resource Officer! The North Carolina Association of School Resource Officers (NCASRO) provides a supportive and educational network to the School Resource Officers in North Carolina and beyond, with the common goal of protecting every child so they can reach their fullest potential in a safe learning environment. NCASRO is a non-profit organization that helps put the needed tools in hands of today’s SROs. SROs work to reduce school violence by enforcing violations of the law occurring on school property, by informing students of the dangers of substance abuse, by introducing programs that will enhance acceptable social behavior, and by serving as positive role models.

    AHOSKIE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL – Day’Meon Privott

    Day’Meon is the son of Carol and Wayne Privott.  He demonstrates responsibility daily by coming to school prepared and ready to work.  Day’Meon is always on task whether working independently or in a group.

     

    BEARFIELD PRIMARY SCHOOL –  Keira Lassiter

    Keira is the daughter of Rachel and Don Lassiter. She is always prepared for class and ready to learn. She is an active participant in all of her classrooms. Keira is a great role model to her peers and displays responsibility through her leadership skills at Bearfield Primary School. 

     

    RIVERVIEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL – Nahlia Williamson

    Nahlia is the daughter of Lakesha Vaughan and Ian Williamson. She demonstrates responsibility by walking into each of her classes prepared and ready to do her assignments. The fifth grade team is excited to have Nahlia as a fifth grade student. 

     

    HERTFORD COUNTY MIDDLE SCHOOL - Amyah Vinson

    Amyah is the daughter of Alvin and Nicole Vinson. She portrays responsibility daily by completing all assignments. Amyah is always available when her family and friends need her; equating her level of responsibility as trustworthy and loyal.

     

    HERTFORD COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL – Christian Riddick

    Christian is the son of Princess and Ronnie Riddick. He portrays responsibility in the fact that he takes an active role in his learning by holding himself accountable and doing above and beyond what is required of him. He is always respectful and makes choices that will ultimately lead to his success.  He is a true representation of the character trait responsibility.

     

    CS BROWN HIGH SCHOOL – Tariq Jones

    Tariq is the son of Tabitha Jones.  He is extremely responsible and takes charge of situations in addition to making sure that his peers are on task and ready for class.  He is an incredible role model and a diligent student who comes to class prepared and creates high quality work that exceeds expectations.

     

    EARLY COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL –  Aren Buffaloe

    Aren is the son of Ms. Assata Buffaloe and Mr. Eddie Buffaloe Jr.  He exemplifies the trait of responsibility as an Early College student.  He sets goals for himself and strives to follow the path that will earn him his desired outcomes.  Aren is a very respectful and diligent student who truly cares about his education. He takes responsibility for his actions and he makes positive choices.

    BEARFIELD PRIMARY SCHOOL –  Mason Palazzolo

    Mason is the son of Melinda Myers and Nino Palazzolo. He is a very good friend to his classmates and gets along with everyone. He is always so considerate of their feelings. Mason has always been respectful to his peers, their property, and all of his teachers. 

     

    RIVERVIEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL – Amyah Frances

    Amyah is the daughter of Ashley Riddick. She is respectful to her teachers and peers. Ashley is a great student academically. She also has an awesome personality. 

     

    AHOSKIE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL – Makayla Pugh

    Makayla is the daughter of Kristi and Hermea Pugh Jr. She is a very helpful and respectful young lady. Makayla stays on task in the classroom and completes tasks without hesitation. She respects her teachers and peers on a daily basis.  

     

    HERTFORD COUNTY MIDDLE SCHOOL – Bricklyn Tripp

    Bricklyn is the daughter of Walter “Brick” and Sheila Tripp. She is a very dedicated, determined, and academically focused young lady who always respects her family, instructors, and friends. Bricklyn does what is asked of her without any recourse and supplements her time with meaningful tasks to help others.

     

    CS BROWN HIGH SCHOOL – Austin Hill 

    Austin is the son of Randy and Julie Hill. Austin is an extremely bright young man, but what sets him apart is his respect and cordial disposition to everyone that he meets. Austin exemplifies the very essence of what it means to value his peers, teachers and other staff members.

     

    EARLY COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL –  James Schwartz

    James is the son of Mr. Scott and Mrs. Agnes Schwartz. He is very quiet and focused on his academics. He is considerate of others feelings and shows respect to both his peers and teachers. James is known for his ability to relate well with others and for lending a helping hand when needed.

     

    HERTFORD COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL – Mya Mabine

    Mya is the daughter of Kim Futrell and Martinez Mabine.  Cadet Mabine has continued to demonstrate exceptional leadership qualities and devotion to the principles of the HCHS JROTC program.  She strives to achieve the best results in all tasks, accepts constructive criticism, and adapts to changes very quickly. These qualities contribute to high respect given her by her peers.  Cadet Mabine leads by example which encourages others to strive to perform all tasks with self confidence and positivity to promote self development.

    BEARFIELD PRIMARY SCHOOL –  Emerson Johnson

    Emerson Johnson is the son of Ashley and Chris Johnson. Emerson shows good judgment by always displaying great leadership traits. He is always very respectful and uses his classroom rules and school expectations as tools to make good decisions.

    RIVERVIEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL – Kierstin Myrick

    Kierstin Myrick is the daughter of Alicia and Shawn Fennell. Kierstin is a bright student that works hard at making good judgment. Kierstin is very determined to be successful when working on her assignments.

    AHOSKIE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL – Shy’Asia Boone

    Shy’Asia Boone is the daughter of La’Toya Jenkins and Duane Boone.  Shy’Asia shows good judgement by staying positive and separating herself from negative behaviors of peers.  She works hard in the classroom and sets a great example for her peers.

     

    HERTFORD COUNTY MIDDLE SCHOOL – Kaitlyn Lassiter

    Kaitlyn is the daughter of Joseph (Rebecca) Lassiter and Shannon Lassiter. She is recognized by her instructors and peers as an inspiration and good judgment is evident in her academics and character. Kaitlyn is a self motivated student who credits good judgment in establishing goals.

     

    CS BROWN HIGH SCHOOL – Kenneth Armstrong, Jr.

    Kenneth is the son of Phyllis and Kenneth Armstrong Sr. He is an ideal student who is respectful and well disciplined. In spite of all of the peer pressure, he continues to make the best decision.

     

    EARLY COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL –  Nathan Ward

    Nathan is the son of Mr. Shawn and Mrs. Tracy Ward.  He has shown his ability to make positive choices both socially and academically.  Nathan has grown tremendously as a student and has set goals for himself.  His hard work and good judgement are evident through his actions. 

     

    HERTFORD COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL – Alasia Jones

    Alasia is the daughter of Sheena Jones. The way that Alasia’s character sets her apart and makes her unique. Her character is best exemplified in how her habits, motives, and thoughts relate to morality. Above all, the choices she makes are evident in the way she conducts herself.

    BEARFIELD PRIMARY SCHOOL –  Ava Harris

    Ava Harris is the daughter of Candice Godwin and Frank Harris. Ava is very truthful with both her peers and her teachers. She tells/admits the truth even if it gets her in trouble.

    RIVERVIEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL – Chrishawn Grant

    Chrishawn is the son of Tomika Grant. He is an honest and trustworthy student. He always helps and supports his classmates by telling the truth. Chrishawn always tries to make the right choice.

    AHOSKIE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL – Ja’Meir Gathers

    Ja’Meir is the son of Consuela Moore.  He is a very honest and hard working student.  Ja’Meir remains truthful on a daily basis, no matter what situation arises.  He is admired by his teachers and peers.

    HERTFORD COUNTY MIDDLE SCHOOL – Jalin Williams

    Jalin is the son of Latonya Harrell and Eric Williams. He is an honest and trustworthy student. He is known for his genuine character and treats others the way he wants to be treated.  Jalin places his best efforts in anything that he does.

    CS BROWN HIGH SCHOOL – Joseph Vaughan

    Joseph is the son of William and Keisha Vaughan.  He a very forthright student who gets along well with all of his teachers and peers.  He speaks very candidly about whatever is asked of him. Joseph takes pride in making the right choice at all times.

    EARLY COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL – Elijah Parker  

    Elijah is the son of Mr. Gilbert Parker Jr. and Ms. Cindy Powell.  He is an outstanding student that can always be counted on to be honest and supportive of his classmates.  Elijah is dedicated to being a successful student and strives to always make the right choices.  

    HERTFORD COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL – Antwan Stidham

    Antwan is a 12th grader at HCHS.  He is the son of Tontalyn Lane. Mrs. Pharr was so happy to nominate Antwan, saying that he is honest, trustworthy and kind.

    Jonathan Lassiter is the son of Maria Clark & the late Shelvon D. Lassiter. Jonathan is a very intelligent student that displays courage every day in the classroom. He is very honest, trustworthy, and works with other students, as he shows them how critical thinking and asking risky questions helps with learning about things and concepts.

     

    RIVERVIEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL – Marykathryn Bourn

    Marykathryn is the daughter of Heather Bourn. Marykathryn has the courage to stand and help her classmates while doing her best to be a honor roll student. The fifth grade team is very proud of her accomplishments.

     

    AHOSKIE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL – Alantis Eure

    Alantis is the daughter of Lastardea Hassell.  She has the determination to do the right thing even when others around her do not.  Alantis is not afraid to stand alone, she follows her teacher’s instructions even if her peers are not.

     

    HERTFORD COUNTY MIDDLE SCHOOL – Terliyah Cherry

    Terliyah is the daughter of Robert and Teresa Harrell. She is determined to do the best she can in every opportunity presented to her. Terliyah exercises courage academically and characteristically daily. She does not waiver in the ability to be a model student and is not fearful to do what is right.

     

    CS BROWN HIGH SCHOOL – Demetrius Harris

    Demetrius is the son of Sandra & Timothy Britt.  He exemplifies the courage needed in the 21st century to face the daily trials and temptations that teens face today.  In spite of the numerous obstacles that he has overcome, he continues to make a positive change in our school environment by exhibiting sensitivity, maturity and strong determination.

     

    EARLY COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL –  Christian Olds

    Christian is the daughter Barry Deloatch and Tishanta Olds. Christian always displays courage regardless of any obstacles she has had to face.  She continues to rise and push through while striving to grow academically and personally.

     

    HERTFORD COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL – Alice Williams

    Alice is the daughter of Hope and Brian Williams. She stands by her friends amidst the negative comments of other scholars. Alice overcomes every challenge successfully and gracefully in her academic career as an A/B honor roll student and athletic endeavors as a member of HCHS's track team.

     BEARFIELD PRIMARY SCHOOL - Leedamiyon  Smallwood

    Leedamiyon Smallwood is the son of Leerome and Jennifer Smallwood. He always shows integrity by doing the right thing even when no one is watching. He is very honest, truthful and holds himself and others to a high standard. His creative and caring personality is contagious and he’s a leader in the classroom.


    RIVERVIEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL – A’Myah Francis

    A’Myah Francis is the daughter of Ashley Riddick and Adriel Francis. She displays integrity daily by doing what’s right even when no one else is looking. A’Myah is trustworthy when interacting with her peers and teachers.


    AHOSKIE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL – Antonio Powell

    Antonio is the son of Sheena Cherry and Antonio Powell Sr.  He displays integrity on a daily basis. Antonio’s peers and teachers can depend on him to be trustworthy at all times.  He takes his studies serious and no matter what, he maintains a positive attitude.


    HERTFORD COUNTY MIDDLE SCHOOL – Hunter Hill

    Hunter is the son of Randy and Julie Hill. His quiet spirit flourishes as he maintains integrity by providing credence and positivity toward teachers and acquaintances. Hunter ensures that his time is well spent by focusing on academics, sports, and extracurricular activities that will not interrupt the velocity of his goals.


    CS BROWN HIGH SCHOOL –Ariyanna Jones

    Ariyanna is the daughter of Sauvtra Powell and Jamie Jones.  She personifies ethics through her leadership, community service and academic perseverance.  Ariyanna is always readily available to assist her peers and teachers in any way that she can.


    EARLY COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL –  Trinity Everett

    Trinity is the daughter of Dwight and Jessica Everett.  She exhibits the character trait of integrity in her interactions with both her peers and instructors.  Trinity can always be counted on to be a model student and present a positive attitude.


    HERTFORD COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL - Tomicia Flood

    Tomicia is the daughter of Lonnie and Marion Flood.  She is the sweetest student to everyone. Tomicia is kind, loving, thoughtful and courteous.  She always has her classwork and homework done and in on time. Tomicia never complains, tells the truth, always has a smile on her face and is a very responsible student.

    D’Sya is the daughter of Danielle Ellis and David Watson. She spreads kindness like confetti daily by always being willing to help her friends. She is a great classroom leader and role model to everyone around her.

     

    RIVERVIEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL – Chaz Warren

    Chaz is the son of Charles and Chandrea Warren. He displays acts of  kindness by communicating with staff and students daily in the most encouraging way. Chaz’s everyday dialogue is honest, respectful and considerate of others.

     

    AHOSKIE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL – Emonii Harrell

    Emonii  is the daughter of Jakecia Jones and Darius Gorham.  She practices kindness daily with all her classmates.  She is always considerate of others and always willing to share anything she has with her peers.  

     

    HERTFORD COUNTY MIDDLE SCHOOL – Justin Holloman

    Justin is the son of Kimmy Ellis and Michael Holloman. He is the epitome of kindness as his humble spirit allows him to assist and be attentive to the needs of others. His kindness is not only in words but also in deeds.

     

    CS BROWN HIGH SCHOOL –Christian Reynolds

    Christian is the daughter of Rhonda White and Derwin Reynolds.  She has gained much respect by her random acts of kindness.  She is a very considerate student who gets along well with her peers and teachers.  Christian is always trying to find ways to help assist the staff in any way that she can.

     

    EARLY COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL  Michelle Phan

    Michelle is the daughter of Tina Tran and Paul Phan.  Michelle is known around campus for having a kind heart and spirit. She is a motivated, driven, and always willing to lend a helping hand to staff and peers.

     

    HERTFORD COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL – Takayla Britt

    Takayla is the daughter of Trennette Smallwood and Brandy Britt.

    Nominated by one of her teachers, Takayla is known as a very kind person who genuinely cares for others, especially her peers.  Takayla is willing to help her classmates with concepts they are struggling with. She also has supplies ready for students who forget them.  Takayla has exemplified kindness since she was in the 9th grade.

    Jakyia is the daughter of Khashonda Howard & Domonique Shaw Sr.  She is a role model of self-discipline by constantly displaying great character and behavior. Jakyia manages her time well in the classroom and always follows the school and classroom rules.

     

    RIVERVIEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL – Asyah Johnson

    Asyah is the daughter of Chalcey and Reginald Wiggins. She is a very hard worker and shows self-discipline while completing all tasks.

     

    AHOSKIE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL – Ti’Shay Bishop

    Ti’Shay is the daughter of Shante’ and Tyron Bishop.  She displays self-discipline by ensuring that she has completed all her assignments accurately and turning them in on time.  No matter what task Ti’Shay is presented with, she never complains. She is very patient and helpful to her teacher and her peers.

    HERTFORD COUNTY MIDDLE SCHOOL – Devin Johnson

    Devin is the son of Chris and Ashley Johnson. He practices self-discipline by focusing on his school work to the best of his ability and ignoring distractions that may be around him.

     

    CS BROWN HIGH SCHOOL –Torryan Lassiter

    Torryan Lassiter is the son of Stephen and Patrice Lassiter.  He is a senior at C. S. Brown High School STEM. He is extremely focused and well disciplined in his academic endeavors. He is the CEO of Millennium, a virtual enterprise business where he oversees other employees and shows great leadership abilities.

     

    EARLY COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL  Jaime Early

    Jaime Early is the daughter of Jimmy and Rhonda Earley. She is extremely discipled in her desire to learn and maintain high academic achievement. Jamie is currently enrolled in high school and college classes, she is a member of the writing center, is a peer tutor, participates in dance, and works with the Farm 2 School 2 Health Care initiative as a Garden Steward.

     

    HERTFORD COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL – Dariasia Powell

    Dariasia Powell is the daughter of Lashunda and Darius Powell. She is very respectful, well-mannered and behaved. She assures that her mental strength allows her to do whatever is necessary, even if she doesn’t feel like it. Ms. Powell uses that ability to withstand different kinds of temptations. She also controls her conduct and feelings at a high level. However, her soft spoken and calm spirit makes her a disciplined person, but ultimately her determination and work ethic to pursue her accomplishments are essential.

    Micheala is the daughter of Michael & Laura Wilson. Micheala is a very responsible young lady who comes to school prepared with homework and necessary materials. She is kind, follows all school and classroom rules, and completes her work in a timely manner.

     

    RIVERVIEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL – Casherra Stephen

    Casherra is the daughter of Cassandra Porter and Joseph Stephen, Sr. She is an intelligent and hardworking second grade student. Casherra puts forth her best effort by being responsible for her assignments.

     

    AHOSKIE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL – Taliyah Holley

    Taliyah is the daughter of Georgina and Terill Holley.  Taliyah is a very responsible and hard working student. She follows all school and classroom expectations.  Taliyah takes ownership of all her actions.

     

    HERTFORD COUNTY MIDDLE SCHOOL – Rhyonna Cherry

    Rhyonna is the daughter of Ronica Watford.  Rhyonna exercises responsibility by always using good judgement and not following the crowd. She set goals for her future and work towards them. Rhyonna is dependable, and keeps her promises.

     

    CS BROWN HIGH SCHOOL –Jaiona Sessoms

    Jaiona is the daughter of Eukita and Johnny Sessoms. She exemplifies responsibility by her leadership and academic performance. She consistently strives to reach her highest potential.  She conscientiously evaluates the classroom environment for ways that she can assist her peers.

     

    EARLY COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL  James Brown

    James is the son of Reverend James Brown and Mrs. Ronda Brown.  James is described by his teachers as being most responsible and charismatic.  He speaks to everyone and takes great pride in his school work. James meets any challenge head on and sets high expectations for himself.

     

    HERTFORD COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL – Troy Barnes

    Troy is the son of Patricia Jones.  He is the Battalion Command Sergeant Major for the JROTC program at Hertford County High School.  The Battalion Command Sergeant Major is the senior enlisted member of the Bear Battalion. As such, he supervises the other enlisted members of the battalion.  He is responsible to the Battalion Commander and advises him/her on all matters pertaining to the enlisted cadets in the Bear Battalion.
