  • HCECHS Named Best High School for the Second Year in a Row!

Hertford County Early College High School Makes U.S. News and World Report Second Year in a Row Hertford County Early College has been named a 2017 U.S. News Best High School. More than 6,000 schools – barely one-fourth of the schools that U.S. News evaluated -- were awarded gold, silver or bronze medals in this year’s rankings. To produce the 2017 Best High Schools rankings, U.S. News & World Report teamed with North Carolina-based RTI International, a global nonprofit social science research firm. Hertford County Early College has been recognized in the national rankings and in North Carolina High School rankings. RTI implemented the U.S. News comprehensive rankings methodology, which is based on these key principles: that a great high school must serve all of its students well, not just those who are college bound, and that it must be able to produce measurable academic outcomes to show it is successfully educating its student body across a range of performance indicators. Bronze medals: A bronze medal school either does not offer any AP courses or its CRI (College Readiness Index) was less than the median of 20.91 needed to receive a silver medal. Hertford County Early College High School was also recognized with a Bronze medal during the 2015-2016 school year. We encourage everyone to share our school’s rankings on Facebook and Twitter using #BestHighSchools to show your support for our school earning this award for the second time. More information can be viewed here or by visiting www.usnews.com/highschools Congratulations students, staff, and parents on your hard work!
