Meet the Human Resources Team!
Mrs. Shawnda Cherry, Human Resource Director scherry@hertford.k12.nc.us
is a native of Creswell NC. She is a graduate of East Carolina University for both her Bachelors of Science degree in Middle Grades Education (concentrations in Math & Science) and Masters in School Administration and Instructional Specialist. She has been an educator for twenty-five years with a wide range of experience including middle school and alternative school teacher, elementary & high school assistant principal, elementary and alternative school principal, and Student Services & Alternative Programs Director. Mrs. Cherry is married with three children (one adult and two in college). In her free time, she loves to bake sweet treats and spend time with her family.
Tonya Freeman, Human Resource Officer, thfreeman@hertford.k12.nc.us received her B.S. in Business Administration from Shaw University. Mrs. Freeman was given the opportunity to teach at the middle school level which evolved into a position in Human Resources. This is Mrs. Freeman’s sixth year in education. Mrs. Freeman has worked in various capacities such as certified teacher, lead mentor and now human resource officer. Mrs. Freeman has a passion for helping others and volunteers for several committees throughout the county. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family and traveling. She is a lifelong citizen of Hertford County and strives to make this a great place for the future generation.
