FAQ

Who can refer a student for AIG TestingParent, teacher, administrator, staff, or the student him/herself.

How do I refer a student?  There is an AIG Lead teacher in each school.  A referral form may be obtained from a school's AIG lead teacher. The teachers are:

  • BPS:  Mrs. Regina Ruffin

What criteria are used to determine if a student is eligible to receive AIG services?

  • Nationally normed test: At least one of the three requirements MUST be on a nationally normed test:
    • 90th percentile score or higher on a state or national achievement test (EOC, EOG, etc.) The percentile is not the same as the exam grade.
    • 90th percentile score or higher on a nationally norm-referenced aptitude test (NNAT3).
  • 85% average or higher in the core classes (English/reading, science, social studies, and math) from the previous quarter
  • Initial Screening Instrument for Gifted Programming rating of 3 points or more. This form must be completed by a classroom teacher.
  • Portfolio submission of work that consistently demonstrates thinking and skills above grade level. It is the student's responsibility, along with guidance from his/her teachers and families, to select the work that goes in this portfolio. Three to five entries are recommended.
