Support for Military-Connected Students and Families
Hertford County Public Schools recognizes that military-connected students benefit from understanding and supportive administrators, staff, and teachers. HCPS is committed to providing a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for all families, including those connected to the military.
Military-connected students may experience unique challenges related to military life, such as frequent school transitions, family separations due to deployments, and differences in academic standards and graduation requirements across states. HCPS works to support these students by promoting consistency, flexibility, and awareness across our schools.
HCPS collaborates with community partners and follows state and federal guidance to support military-connected families during transitions. This includes adherence to the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunities for Military Children, which helps minimize educational disruptions related to enrollment, placement, attendance, eligibility, and graduation.
