Hertford County
Hertford County is located in the Northeastern region of North Carolina. Hertford County has a total population of 19,453 people, with six incorporated towns. Ahoskie, Hertford County's largest town, is the retail center of the region and the home of ECU Health Roanoke-Chowan Hospital and Roanoke-Chowan Community College. Nearby Murfreesboro is the home of Chowan University. Winton, the county seat, is the home of Nucor Steel.
Hertford County Public Schools
Hertford County Public Schools consists of seven schools. Three schools are located in Ahoskie and two are in Murfreesboro with C.S. Brown High School in Winton and the Early College High School located on the campus of Roanoke Chowan Community College. The district is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement and the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. A comprehensive curriculum, based on the North Carolina Standard Course of Study, is offered to all students in grades K-12
