Visitors and Friends of Excellence in Education,

    Up to the Challenge!

Hertford County Public Schools, and all other NC schools, have endured major challenges from the state with new curriculum, new assessments, and new instructional approaches in the midst of a new political arena of reforms.

Nevertheless, we are proud to report that we are up to the challenge. We have re-branded and boldly step forth with a new vision, mission, and belief statement to develop the mindset needed to be successful in this newness. Our school report cards display baseline data from which we will be measured in the upcoming years. Growth is the key to a successful school. Hertford County Public Schools is committed to every child acquiring at minimum, a year’s growth for a year of instruction.

Hertford County Public Schools has seven schools within the district. Each School is  retooling to address the challenges noted on our Report Card. Distance Learning, NC-Iris, and a revamped CTE curriculum are being utilized in all secondary schools to effect the changes to meet the challenges in our global marketplace. Elementary schools are focusing on literacy through the use of Classworks and NC-Write.

As we continue to examine our practices to improve achievement for our district, we remember our goal, to be a Cornerstone and the Choice for all Families in Hertford County!

We invite you to partner with the teachers, teacher assistants, administrators, support personnel, and Board, as we implement and continue best practices that address academic capacity within our district.

Together we know that we are “Up to the Challenge!”

    Sincerely,

    Michael D. Perry, Ed.D
