Substitute Teacher Training 10 am OR 2 pm
Description
All Substitute teachers must meet the minimum education requirement of a high school diploma or GED equivalency. They must also have their College Transcript showing at least 60 semester hours and certificate of the completion of the Effective Teacher Training class.
Persons interested in substitute teaching in the Hertford County Public Schools must follow the procedures as outlined:
- Complete the NCDPI application, email your resume, letter of interest, transcript, effective teacher training certificate, and three letters of references. (One must be current within one year).
- Background checks are conducted after the Board of Education has approved the applicant for hire.
- Once your name has received the approval of the full board, applicant is contacted for pre-employment.
- If approved for employment as a substitute teacher, the applicant is invited to New Substitute Teacher Orientation and the following forms should be completed, N. C. health certificate, I-9, payroll direct deposit and tax forms.
- Upon completion of orientation, submission of the N.C. health certificate and other forms, the new substitute teacher will be entered into the substitute teacher management system, AESOP. The new substitute teacher will register as a new user, receive their PIN, and begin substitute teaching.
- Name of applicant is added to the substitute teacher list and is distributed to all schools.
Substitutes are called to serve by the school principal (or designee) as the need arises in each school.
